Dogs & Dawgs: Philanthropy at the Lodge

The actives recently kicked off their philanthropy efforts for the year with the first event of the semester: Dogs & Dawgs,a collaboration between Chi Psi and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.

For the event, Saving Grace Animal Shelter brought several rescue puppies, and they hosted a cookout for brothers, ADPi members, and students. Through ticket sales and donations, they were able to raise nearly $4,500 for the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House provides families with seriously ill or injured children a temporary “home-away-from-home” and essential support while their children receive treatment at nearby hospitals. It was a great way to start the semester, and they are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make it possible.

This is only the first of two philanthropy events they are hosting this semester. Next up is the annual Goals for Growth Soccer Tournament, which will take place on Sunday, November 8. The tournament supports Perseverancia, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding youth education, infrastructure, and opportunities for young people in El Salvador.

They are already extremely grateful to Ali “Leefer” Farahnakian ’90, who generously donated $500 toward the rental of the fields and other resources needed to make the tournament a success.

As they continue preparing for the tournament, they would greatly appreciate any support from the alumni. Any donation, connection to a potential sponsor, or introduction to a business that may be interested in supporting the event would go a long way toward helping them grow this fundraiser and support Perseverancia. The actives extend their gratitude to the alumni for their continued support of Alpha Sigma and its philanthropy efforts. They are excited to see what they can accomplish this semester!
