Summer Enrichment Scholarship: Cole Hilbourn ’27

Cole Hilbourn ’27

This past summer, I had the privilege of spending four weeks in Kikuyu, Kenya, just south of Nairobi. While there, I shadowed physicians at a mission hospital, where I was able to observe healthcare delivery in a setting with limited resources. Outside the hospital, I volunteered at a local school, contributing to construction projects, painting, playing with children, and supporting families in need. The experience was eye-opening and transformative. It challenged me to step outside my comfort zone, gave me a deeper understanding of the daily challenges many people face, and strengthened my gratitude for the opportunities and resources I often take for granted. I am thankful for the chance to see more of the world and to connect with such incredible individuals.
