Will Hardin ’29
This summer, I had the opportunity to volunteer as a leader at a Third Culture Kids Retreat (TCKR) in Lima, Peru. Third Culture Kids (TCKs) are kids who spend their childhood living in a culture and country that is different from their parents’ passport country. The TCKs at this particular retreat were the children of missionaries who serve in Central and South America. For one week every year, these TCKs have the opportunity to gather with some of the only people in the world who have a similar cultural identity. During the week, I helped facilitate connection and conversation through recreational games, small groups, and large community fellowship. This week was deeply meaningful to the TCKs and me as it contributed to my goals of serving others, gaining a global perspective, and having a positive impact on the world.
